As part of the Docklands redevelopment scheme this old tobacco warehouse was converted into a shopping and entertainment centre. The conversion wasn't a great success and within a few years the area had again gone into decline. Now it is under new ownership and there are renewed plans to rejuvenate the area.
Whilst this is underway you can still see some of the original wood and cast iron architecture that dates back to the early 19th Century. And outside there are two ships moored. These are replicas of the original boats which delivered tobacco and wine to London in the 18th and 19th centuries.
There is also a pleasant canal walk between Tobacco Dock and St Katherine's Dock.
