HISTORY OF PASSION

When Shrewsbury was born many years ago one of the loveliest parts of the town came to life known as the kings market. In circa 1460 the Tudor House was built and has forever filled the hearts with happiness of all who stay there. Unique as it may be it is the visitors that bring it to life and it responds by smiling back and creaking with happiness. Surrounded by beautiful cobbled streets appropriately named, Milk Street, Butcher Row, Shop Latch, The Bear Steps and the famous Grope Lane! Tudor House and the Old Kings Market stand side by side with our churches and guarded by our wonderful castle just minutes away.

With black and white buildings and cobblestone street everywhere you look, Shrewsbury is a magnet to so many visitors. Wool merchants of the 15th and 16th centuries known as "The Drapers" left us an incredible legacy of splendid timber mansions. The town dates back to before AD901 and has retained it's medieval street pattern with a maze of 'shuts' and passages.

Tudor House is one of over 660 listed buildings including the Norman Abbey and medieval castle and the wonderful Victorian Railway Station.

Guided tours and trails help visitors to enjoy and see the best thus making the most of our lovely county town.
