| Bakewell is a small market town situated in the heart of the Peak District. Every Monday is market day, which sees the town come to life; all the local farmers come to sell their cattle and sheep at auction in the Agricultural Centre. Other special dates in Bakewell are Well Dressing week, Carnival day and the two-day annual Bakewell Show. From Bakewell, you can explore the beautiful Peak District National Park. Visit the White Peak and Dark Peak, renowned for it moorlands, dales, historic and archaeological sites, or visit stately homes, theme parks, museums and spectacular caverns. |

| From the roundabout in the centre of Bakewell, take the A6 to Matlock, after 400 metres turn right after the Murco Petrol Station which is also on your right. This road is called Holywell, after 50 yards fork right up Park Road, going past Westmorland House and Wyedale B&B's. Come up the hill another 50 yards and 1 Park Road is facing down the hill, next to a wooden five bar gate, the sign Park View is in front of us. We have a plaque over the front door displaying a pheasant and 1 Park Road, there is a gate at the side of the garage which has a sign "The Garden Room, Four Diamonds, Silver Award." Please park in front of the garage door and ring the front door bell. |
| ACCESS STATEMENT FOR THE GARDEN ROOM GUEST ACCOMMODATION BAKEWELL DERBYSHIRE INTRODUCTION We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home based one bedroom guest accommodation. We offer either double or single occupancy. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will try to help. PRE-ARRIVAL There is no railway station in Bakewell. Local bus services run from Sheffield, Chesterfield and Derby, the nearest main line stations. We can provide a list of local taxi numbers. We have a website and you can contact us by phone or email. (Details below) ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES We are 100 metres off the main A6 Matlock road out of Bakewell. From the roundabout in the centre of Bakewell take the A6 to Matlock, after 400 metres turn right after the Murco petrol station which is also on your right. This road is called Holywell, after 50 metres fork right up Park Road, going past Westmorland House and Wyedale House B & Bs. Come up the hill another 50 metres and 1 Park Road is facing down the hill, the sign for Park View is in front of us. The drive is an uphill slope (tarmac) which levels out at the top and cars can drive straight in. There are no marked bays but there is ample room. Guests are asked to park in front of the garage door. The path to the Garden Room, which is at the rear of the property, is paved and level except for one 12cm step. The path is accessed through a wooden latch gate. ACCOMMODATION The Garden Room accommodation consists of three rooms. Due to the dimensions of the rooms they are not suitable for wheelchairs, but being ground floor and on one level they are suitable for guests of limited mobility. BEDROOM Access to the Garden Room is directly into the bedroom through a 76cm wide double glazed door. There is a raised threshold of 10cm. The standard double bed is 60cm high. There is one wooden armchair with a padded seat. The floor covering is a fitted short pile carpet. BATHROOM The door to the bathroom from the bedroom is 76cm wide. The corner shower cubicle is a quarter circle design with a radius of 76cm. There is a 25cm step up into the shower. There is no bath. The toilet is 43cm high. The wash basin is of built-in design with mixer taps. The floor covering is a fitted short pile carpet. DINING ROOM/LOUNGE Meals are served in the dining room/lounge which is accessed from the bedroom via a 76cm wide door. The dining table is a semi-circular pedestal design with a height of 62cm. The lounge area has two armchairs and occasional tables. The floor covering is a fitted short pile carpet. GARDENS In the summer months the flat paved area outside the Garden Room has two garden chairs for use by guests. The Garden Room overlooks the private and peaceful rear garden which is set to lawn and borders. The rear garden rises steeply and at the top, again in summer, is a seat where guests can sit and take in the panoramic view. This bench is accessed by a steep lawn area and therefore guests with mobility difficulties are advised not to use it. SHOPS Bakewell has a full range of shops including chemists, supermarket, butchers and bakers. There are eating establishments for all tastes and pockets. The centre of Bakewell is a 10 minute, mostly flat, stroll away. The Murco petrol station which is only 300 metres away sells daily and Sunday newspapers. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Most mobile phones work in the Garden Room. You are welcome to use our land line for a modest charge. We are a no smoking establishment. We do not allow dogs or other pets. We can accept small items of food/medication for storage in our fridge, by arrangement.
