The Thatched Cottage is closed September/October 2007
The Thatched Cottage is a charming Grade II listed 17th Century building tucked away from the main thoroughfare. It has been modernized to a high standard, without losing its character or features, such as inglenook fireplaces and old beams. Our guest accommodation comprises a double and single room with private bathroom. Guests are welcome to relax in the conservatory, over looking the peaceful cottage garden. To ensure the best level of service we only have one set of visitors at a time.

We are located on the border between the lovely countryside of South Hampshire and West Sussex. The cottage makes an ideal base to explore the historic cities of Portsmouth (6 miles) and Chichester (10 miles), for walking on the South Downs (4 miles) and to visit nearby sites such as Fishbourne Roman Palace, Stansted Park, Goodwood and Uppark House. We welcome walkers and cyclists, being near the Southdowns Way and a number of Cycle Routes. The Continental ferry port at Portsmouth and railway stations at Havant and Emsworth are conveniently close. Full English breakfast is served with a wide selection of choices, complimented by fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals etc. Only the best quality food is used, where possibly locally sourced and organic. Anyone with vegetarian or special dietary needs can be catered for, with advance notification.

Within walking distance of the house are an Indian restaurant and village pubs serving good food. Further afield is Emsworth (2 miles) with its wide range of restaurants. Indeed in September Emsworth has a famed international food and wine festival in which the restaurants take part.
