Leominster is the Ancient Market Town of 'Llanlieli' (the town in the marshes) originating from 660AD.![]() The Talbot Hotel, an old Coaching Inn, parts of which date from the 15thC, is to be found at the centre of the town and stands on the 'Iron Cross' which was a focal point for hangings, the most notable being that of Roger Cadwallader, a Roman Catholic Priest, hanged in 1610. |

| Leominster is at the crossroads where the A49 Marches road traverses the main A44 Cotswold road to Mid-Wales. Timber buildings, narrow streets, the Priory Church dating from 1123 and Grange Court, originally built in 1633 as the Butter Market, are buildings of historical importance and tourist interest. The original town Ducking Stool, last used in 1809 can be seen in The Priory Church. |
