| the apartment This is a large studio flat in the borough of Richmond in south-west London. It's the top floor of a recently built extension to a Victorian property and is just a few minutes walk from the River Thames. The apartment was designed by the owner who lives at the same address. Its style is individual, part modern, part ethnic, relaxed, a little quirky and with a touch of luxury (large round jacuzzi tub in one corner). There is a well equipped kitchen area next to a large window, a sitting area with large leather sofa and flat screen TV, table and chairs in front of second large window (with window box) which looks out over owner's garden. There is also a library of DVD's and books to choose from. The kingsize bed has a pocket-sprung mattress with down and feather duvet and comfortable pillows. The ensuite bathroom is generous in size with a walk in double shower. There is also a washing machine and storage area for suitcases. The studio is designed for double occupancy but can accommodate 2 additional people, using the sofa as a single bed and a fold out Z-bed. The flat comprises the entire top floor. the neighbourhood The borough of Richmond straddles one of the most beautiful stretches of the River Thames. With over 21 miles of River frontage and over 100 parks, it has the most green open space of all 32 London boroughs. The studio flat is a few minutes walk from the river and the Old Deer Park, 90 hectares of open space which includes the Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club. The 'village' of St Margarets offers an array of delicatessens, coffee bars, excellent restaurants and pubs, a specialist cheese shop, organic family butcher, late opening mini supermarket, organic wholefoods shop, pharmacy, beauty salon, hairdressers, Pilates studio and much more. There is a gym and a heated indoor / outdoor swimming pool a 10 minute walk away. Church Street in Twickenham town centre is a pedestrian haven of small boutique shops and inviting pubs and restaurants. Kingston upon Thames, 15 minutes by train, offers an alternative to central London for mainstream shopping. Twickenham Film Studios has operated in the centre of St Margarets for almost 100 years. When it was set up in 1913 it was the largest studio in the UK and over the years has been involved in some of the world's favourite movies. Just 30 minutes by train from central London or by car from Heathrow Airport, St Margarets is brilliantly located for a business or holiday trip to the capital. It is also within easy reach of Gatwick Airport (1 hour) and the Channel ports (2 hours). The Avenue is located on one of the main access routes into central London (off the M3 motorway) and there is off road parking for your car. The studio flat is a short walk from St Margarets Station where trains run every 15 minutes directly to Waterloo, one of London's mainline stations.
