![]() | Romantic and secluded, 6 miles from Ingleton on the B6255 stands the Station Inn in all its splendour.Ideally situated in the Yorkshire dales, the Station Inn provides a perfect base for a host of activities, from potholing in hundreds of challenging caves in the area, walking the 3 peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, mountain biking the miles of green lanes and Bridleways, to relaxing in the beer garden drinking cask conditioned Theakstons and Black Sheep whilst viewing the regular steam trains crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. |
Here is an Inn with views second to none.On the B6255 near its junction with the B6479 Horton-in-Ribblesdale road, in dramatic scenery, the vast Ribblehead Viaduct, with 24 arches, and 105ft high straddles the majestic Valley. Built in 1872 to carry the Settle the Carlisle Railway, this massive structure is still in use and well known to rail enthusiasts. The Station Inn, built around the same period, doubled as a farm and hostelry until 1960. It nestles on the quiet roadside in the shadow of the stately Viaduct. The licensees, Neil and June Warwick, maintain a railway theme in their cosy bar, which contains on its walls paintings, drawings and photographs on that very subject.A cast iron solid fuel burning stove and a warm and homely atmosphere welcome the cold, wet, weary and thirsty traveller. The traditional bar is well stocked with fine ales and a good selection of malt whiskies.
The snug dining roomdecorated with the nearby famous "Ribblehead Viaduct" in mind, invites the diner to enjoy a wide variety of home cooked meals.A speciality of the house is of course a giant Yorkshire Pudding filled with anything from a traditional Sunday lunch to mouth-watering Chilli-con-Carne.The special needs of vegetarians and children are catered for with a range of veggie choices and a kid's corner with everything a child could ask for, we hope!Grills and home cooked specials are available for those with a healthy appetite. If you still aren't full, a range of desserts is also available. Our food is cooked using produce purchased locally, there may be a slight delay in serving your meal, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ambience of the "Pub" and its situation.

Walks radiate from Ribblehead. The obvious one is the ascent of Whernside, which at 2,415 ft is the highest in Yorkshire. The farm road just below the Inn leads to a footpath to the top.
Two miles down the Ingleton road, once used by the Roman legions, is Chapel-le-Dale, and from there is a footpath to the summit of Ingleborough.
From Horton-in-Ribblesdale, 5 miles on B6479, is the start of the ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, the furthest away from the Inn.
These three constitute the famous Three Peaks walk.
There are numerous other walks in close proximity to the Station Inn, a few which are listed below:-Dales Way, Settle-Carlisle, Ribble Valley Way, Centurion Way, Pennine Way, Alternative Coast to Coast.
With numerous SSSIs and nature reserves in the area even the budding botanist is catered for.
Also, a ski lift only 4 miles up the road (Weather permitting). As you can see we definitely have something for everyone.
