Bromley boasts the biggest shopping centre outside central London (but not as expensive as central London), with theatres, cinemas and plenty of fine eating places. Croydon is also a busy business area with plenty of restaurants, cinemas, theatres etc., with close proximity to Gatwick Airport, and Greenwich is famous for maritime history and the calculation of time, with a historic observatory, ancient ships, antique markets and village atmosphere. The famous Crystal Palace Park and Sports Centre is only 10 minutes walk from the house. The sports centre has swimming pools, gymnasiums, ball game areas etc. and numerous international sports events, and in the park there are boating and fishing lakes, a concert bowl (in the summer you can picnic by the lake and listen to a concert). The most famous feature of the park are its huge lifelike dinosaur statues. |
