In the heart of Anglesey relax and enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the countryside and Snowdonia mountain range at Drws-y-Coed, meaning 'Door of the wood'. We are a Welsh speaking family, running the 550-acre farm of beef cattle, sheep and cereal crops. It is situated in peaceful wooded countryside and is approached by two private tarmac driveways, one of which is tree lined and in Springtime is lined with daffodils, wild flowers and rhododendrons.

Drws-y-Coed is an ideal touring base for all the island's attractions and 125 miles of coastline, which is an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty'. Anglesey has many unspoilt sandy beaches some exposed to the rolling Irish sea breakers, ideal for surfing, whilst other are more sheltered and are safe for children of all ages.

Three miles away is the picturesque Bodafon Mountain, a pleasant place for picnics, walks and fishing. Nearby is Llyn Alaw and Llyn Cefni for trout fishing, Oriel Ynys Môn Heritage Centre at Llangefni, Parys Mountain Copper Mine near Amlwch and Din-Lligwy, an ancient settlement close to Moelfte. Anglesey is dotted with some of Wales's finest prehistoric sites. Centrally situated for sailing, golfing, riding, birdwatching and leisure centres.

The Irish Ferry port at Holyhead is 25 minutes away and Snowdonia National Park, on the mainland is about 30 minutes journey.

The old manor house, Llwydiarth Esgob with its unusual tall chimneys, dominates the old farmyard, as it has over the centuries. The Listed Grade 2 Star traditional farm buildings have been preserved and visitors are welcome to wander around to see the cowsheds, grain stores, stables, smithy with working bellows and original anvil. Situated on the walking path between Penmon Lighthouse, near Beaumaris and South Stack Lighthouse near Holyhead. Close to the Ceidio Circular Walk at Llannerch-y-medd and Hebog cycle route.

Drws-y-Coed is a non-smoking establishment. Sorry no pets. An attractive garden with a gazebo to relax in. Lovely private walks, where wildlife can also be seen. Jane enjoys providing a relaxed, clean and comfortable home from home atmosphere for a quiet country holiday. Perhaps that is why so many of her guests return to visit Drws-y-Coed. Jane Bown
