Cromer known as the ‘Gem of the Norfolk Coast’ is famous for its Pier, the Pavilion Theatre Summer Show‘Seaside Special’, Lifeboat, and Cromer Crabs. The town is dominated by the Church Tower which is said to be the highest in Norfolk.

Clement Scott the famous Victorian poet and critic called this part of Norfolk ‘Poppyland’ today’s visitor can still enjoy many of the views that Scott found so enchanting.

The Cliftonville Hotel built in 1894 was designed by Augustus Scott a local architect who is said to have been inspired by the design of a hotel in Clifton hence the name of the hotel. Extended in 1898 the new architect was on George John Skipper of Norwich. Skippers design was much freer than that of Scoots.
Using decorative stained glass, terracotta panels depicting plants and birds.

The interior of the Cliftonville shows great craftsmanship with the reception area and the Westcliff Restaurant being areas where the best work can be seen.
