BREAKFASTS
Breakfasts are cooked on the kitchen Aga and served communally in the dining room with individual timings to suit. All breakfast choices are adaptable according to preference and are accompanied by fruit juice and tea or filter coffee. Porridge and breakfast brulee are popular as hot starters with fresh fruit, cereals, museli, home-made yoghurt and cheese available from the sideboard. These are followed by a breakfast of choice such as fried eggs with grilled local bacon, sausages, large field mushrooms and tomatoes; home-cooked ham; smoked haddock or kippers; scrambled eggs and smoked salmon; home-made waffles with maple syrup and not forgetting a simple continental. Eggs are fresh from our own free-range hens and all our bread, white, brown and wholegrain is home-made in the Aga, together with a range of jams and marmalade. As far as possible all products are organic and locally sourced and special diets can generally be catered for provided enough advance notice is given.
AND IN ADDITION........
For evening meals we are very lucky to have the Greyhound Pub a five minute walk down the drive where Tony and Alison serve an excellent range of reasonably priced meals. For those wishing to go further afield there are numerous other possibilities and a visit to The Rock at Chiddingstone Hoath or the Castle Inn at Chiddingstone to sample Larkins bitter brewed locally in the village should not be missed.
Local attractions include Penshurst Place and the National Trust village of Chiddingstone - both only minutes away with Hever Castle, Chartwell, Knole Park., Squerryes Court and Ightham Mote all under half an hour. Tonbridge and Sevenoaks are 15 minutes drive and Tunbridge Wells with the famous Pantiles 25 minutes. Gatwick Airport is 40 minutes away and for those wishing to visit London, Penshurst Station is a 10 minute walk across the old aerodrome with trains running hourly to London Bridge.
