Our attractive Victorian villa was built in 1869 by a prominent York family who wanted to be 'not far from the city centre'. There is easy access to the historic centre of the city-15 minutes' walk or 3 minutes on the bus which passes the front door. Our private enclosed car park allows you to forget the problems of parking and relax. York has too much to offer with is ancient narrow streets, medieval churches, Roman, Viking and National Railway museums and of course the Minster-all on our doorstep.
![]() ![]() Traditional English or Vegetarian breakfasts or a selection from our cold buffet are served to you in the attractive dining room, which is a no smoking area, and tea and coffee is available throughout the day in the Lounge. ![]() All rooms have central heating, hairdryers, radio alarms, TVs and complimentary beverage facilities. There is also a sauna, which may be hired by the hour. Climbing the beautiful wide pitch-pine staircase, the half-landing has an unusual curved stained glass oriel window and leads up to the first floor with seven bedrooms, most with four-poster or canopy beds. ![]() ![]() Afurther staircase leads to the top floor where we have four more good sized en suite bedrooms. Family rooms are available with a double and one or two single beds, and cots or Z beds can be provided when required. We have twelve double/twin/family en-suite bedrooms with either baths or showers together with one double where the private bathroom is nearby. ![]() ![]() On the ground floor there are two comforatable bedrooms, a twin with shower and toilet and a double with bath and toilet. These rooms are especially useful for guests who do not wish to climb stairs. ![]() ![]() Ascot stands next to public gardens with tennis courts and two fine bowling greens. There is a nearby pub offering good food and also within walking distance, an excellent range of eating places that we can personally recommend to suit all tastes and pockets. Should you wish to see a little more of Yorkshire, the dales to the west, the Moors to the north or our beautiful Yorkshire Coast are each but one hour's drive away. June, Keith and Rob Wood, resident proprietors, have a life-times knowledge and love of York and are always available to help you plan your day should you require it. |
