| The Abbey & Areldee Guesthouses are situated overlooking Roker beach with fantastic views of the sands, The North Sea and the Sunderland coastline. We are adjacent the local bus routes into the city centre and are only a short walk from St Peters University campus. We purchased the Areldee Guest House in Summer 1994, starting with 3 rooms. Gradually we upgraded and expanded the business until in 2001, we acquired 17 Roker Terrace, the adjacent house and converted this into a guest house, now known the Abbey Guest House. Our aim has always been to create comfortable, quality rooms at affordable prices. We have many returning guests who we have come to know personally over the years, as well as a large local and national business clientele. (Not to mention the faithful Sunderland AFC followers who return whatever the result!) We pride ourselves in giving a personal, friendly touch, and look forward to meeting you. Helen & Peter Hardy |

| We have built up two successful businesses and pride ourselves in being able to provide good quality accommodation within both guesthouses. We can provide rooms to suit all needs; whether you want en-suite with sea view, or standard, if you are on a budget, we can cater for any requirement. Are you in construction, shopfitting, engineering, do you require rooms for your workforce? We have capacity for large groups and can provide early breakfasts if needed. We accept cash, credit/debit cards or BACS payments Are you coming to Sunderland to support 'the lads' at The Stadium of Light? We have a number of regular football supporters, and will always welcome more! Are you coming to Sunderland for a tennis tournament at the Puma Centre? The shuttle bus is a 30m walk, and leaves each morning. Are you a keen cyclist or planning a C2C route? We are situated at the end of the route finishing at the mouth of The River Wear. We can provide free secure garage space for storage of your bikes. Are you going to the New Sunderland Aquatic Centre? It's a 5 minute drive from us. Are you entering any sailing events at Sunderland Yacht Club? We are a short walk away. |
| Many guests return to us year after year to visit relatives, students at the University, and simply for a weekend break by the sea. The Bridges shopping centre is a short bus journey away where you can shop at some of your favourite stores. The National Glass Centre on the banks of thr River Wear is a 10 minute walk from our guesthouses. Did you know? Sunderland's St Peters Church & Jarrows St Paul's Church are candidates to become a world heritage site. We have private parking for 15 vehicles directly outside the guesthouses. If you are travelling by van our parking will accommodate large vans. Travelling from Newcastle Airport to Sunderland. Use the the Tyne & Wear Metro.
