Brighton Town Guide, Orientation, 2K
The easiest way to orientate yourself in Brighton is to head for the seafront.

This area gives a good overview of the town, with some of Brighton's most splendid Regency architecture being found here. In addition an elegant Esplanade runs right the way along, and the town's two piers jut out to sea from here.

Many of the town's main tourist attractions are located within an easy walk of the sea front, in particular in the area opposite the Palace Pier.

Just off the Esplanade you will find the Fishing Museum and the Sea Life Centre, and just behind these is the popular and famous shopping area known as The Lanes.

And close by are some of Brighton's best-known tourist attractions - the Museum and Art Gallery and of course the Royal Pavilion, perhaps the most famous building in the town.

Just to the north of the Museum and Art Gallery is the lovely area known as North Laine, a delightful shopping precinct which is home to numerous shops, boutiques, cafes and bistros.

And further north again, close to the Train Station, is the Sussex Toy and Model Museum.

Most of Brighton's main sights are within relatively easy walking distance of each other. However, the town is quite hilly, and so some people may find walking difficult, in which case there is a reasonable bus service to get you around.

But do note - the town gets very busy during the summer and at weekends, making it notoriously difficult to park. And there is also a very complex one-way system through the centre of town - so at all costs leave the car behind!
