Brighton Town Guide |
The small area of Brighton between North Street and the seafront is one of the most famous parts of the town - this is the part of town known as The Lanes. These streets are the original Brighton for they date from the days when Brighton was a small fishing village, long before the Regency invasion of the 18th century. A series of narrow, pedestrianised alleys and passageways, The Lanes are now home to one of the most popular shopping districts outside of London. All manner of shops, exclusive boutiques, cafes and bistros cluster together to make a shopoholic's heaven, but even if you haven't got any cash to spend its worth a visit to just wander along for the atmosphere. You can also find the Museum of Childhood here. |
