The largest bell foundry in the entire world can be found in Loughborough. The bell foundry is now considered to be a landmark. Loughborough is a town that is located within the Charnwood area of the borough of Leicestershire. Loughborough has a population of about fifty six thousand six hundred and this makes it the second largest settlement in the region of Leicestershire. Loughborough is at the centre of Charnwood Borough Council and the town is also home to the main campus of Loughborough University.
In 1841 Loughborough was the first destination for the first package tour that was organised by Thomas Cook. The package tour was for temperance group which from Leicester.
The town has one of the world's largest bell foundries, which is known as John Taylor Bellfounders and it is made from the bells of he Carillon War Memorial and this is a landmark within the town. Loughborough was first mentioned in 1086 within the Doomsday Book.
On the northern edge of the town of Loughborough there is a farm that is known as Dishley Grange Farm, which was home to Robert Bakewell who was an agricultural revolutionist. This farm was once the home to Leicestershire County Show, which was an annual event.

At the centre of Loughborough is the shopping area and some of it is pedestrianised. This shopping area has a vast number of art deco buildings. The shopping area also hosts a large outdoor market that is held every week on a Thursday and a Saturday. There is also a flea market that is held every Friday within the main shopping area of the town. The town of Loughborough also has a farmers market that is held once every month and this market dates back to 1221.
