The railway line that runs through the town is the main railway line for the Far North and this links the town with the rest of the United Kingdom. The local airport for Wick is located on the outskirts to the north and the airport features three runways two of which are still usable.
The main office for both the local newspapers in the area is based within Wick. The town local newspapers are The Caithness Courier and also The John O'Groats Journal. There is also a local hospital in the town of Wick and it is known as Caithness General Hospital.
