Ventnor, located on the Isle of Wright, is well known as a seaside resort. It became firmly established during the Victorian era and continues to be popular as a tourist destination. The town is built upon the slopes and the cliffs that descend to the sea. There are two parts to town, the upper portion is known as Upper Ventnor while the lower area is known as simply Ventnor. Most of the local amenities are located in the lower area. Visitors will find there are numerous shops, restaurants and other amenities located in the Ventnor area.
The seaside resort of Ventnor is located on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. This resort area was established during the Victorian era. Ventnor is a civil parish on the Isle of Wight that is located just off the southern coast of England. Ventnor is located just beneath the area that is known as St Boniface Down and this area is the highest point on the island and stands at a height of seven hundred and eighty seven feet above seaside. The resort is built on the slopes and cliffs that lead down to the sea and these are fairly steep.
The highest part of the resort is often referred to as Upper Ventnor however it is actually officially known as Lowtherville. The lower part of the resort is where a lot of the amenities are situated and this lower area is officially known as Ventnor. The area that is known as Ventnor often also includes the surrounding areas of St Lawrence and also the village of Bonchurch.
The surrounding cliffs that are located on the south coast of the Island shelter the resort of Ventnor and this enables the area to have what is commonly referred to as a microclimate and this means that this area has more sunny days than any other part of the Untied Kingdom. The climate within this area enables the resort to have a range of subtropical species of plant and the botanical gardens within the resort are very popular.
There is two churches within the area which are known as the Holy Trinity church and also the St Catherine's Church. There is a strong educational network within the area of Ventnor and this is made up of three primary schools, one middle school and also a special needs school.
