Totteridge District

This is the area of north London that is situated right on the edge of London, just north of Finchley.
For most of its history the area was very rural and was populated by wealthy families. Once the Great Northern Railway reached the area in the late 19th century the area soon expanded into a residential district.
The area remained popular with the middle classes and so much of the architecture consisted of elegant Edwardian mansions. It is still a predominantly residential area, now part of the London Borough of Barnet.
