Mill Hill District

NW7
Nearest Tube: Mill Hill East

Whilst the railways had reached many of Mill Hill's surrounding districts by the mid-19th century, and as a result those districts had become developed, industrialisation didn't reach Mill Hill until a few years later.

As a result this area of London, situated just to the east of Hampstead, remained predominantly rural right until the late 19th century and some of the pre-industrialisation buildings have survived.

Several of the houses in the district date back to the 18th century, and a few date from as far back as the 16th century. There is a Mill Hill Preservation Society in the district, which helps to restore and preserve Mill Hill's historical buildings.
