St Katherine's Dock

E1
Nearest Tube: Tower Hill
St Katherine's Dock, London Docklands, London, 2K
This dock, situated just east of Tower Bridge, dates back to 1824. In its heyday as a working dock, this was where luxury goods such as ivory, spices and cigars were delivered.

During the re-development of the Docklands, St Katherine's dock was converted into a marina whilst the surrounding warehouses were converted into luxury apartments.

Today you can gawp at the yachts of the wealthy residents or, if you prefer something a bit less ostentatious, you can see some historic 19th century barges. There are also lots of nice restaurants, bistros and pubs in the docks, making this dock very popular with tourists.

There is also a pleasant canal walk between St Katherine's Dock and Tobacco Dock.
