The National Library of Scotland is located on the Royal Mile, on the corner of Cowgate and George IV Bridge, next door to Parliament House. |
The library houses an excellent collection of historical books, letters and papers from different periods of Scottish history and by various Scottish literary figures. Particularly interesting is the collection of illuminated Scottish manuscripts. The library is open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 2.00pm to 5.00pm Sundays. Entry is free. Temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year. |
