Edinburgh Town Guide |
Situated on The Mound, just east of the Castle, the National Gallery of Scotland is an absolute gem of a art gallery with something to suit everyone. |
As you would expect, there is an extensive collection of works by prominent Scottish artists from the past. And the gallery also houses a series of temporary exhibitions by contemporary Scottish artists throughout the year. But there is also an excellent international collection, including pieces by, among others, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Raphael and Constable. And to top it off, the gallery is housed in a beautiful 19th century neo-classical building, right next to the Royal Scottish Academy. The National Gallery of Scotland is open daily from 10am-5pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 2pm to 5pm on Sundays. Entry is free. |
