Edinburgh Town Guide, The Mound, 4K

The Mound is the name of the road that cuts through Princes Street Gardens, effectively linking the Old Town with the New Town.

Edinburgh Town Guide, The Mound, 1K The name is appropriate enough for the road is indeed built on a mound of earth - the earth that was excavated when the foundations of the New Town was built.

Today the Mound is most closely associated with art for it is home to both the Royal Scottish Academy and the National Gallery of Scotland.

It is also where you will find the oldest Floral Clock in the world, and of course, it offers excellent views of Princes Street Gardens.
