Swanage is located in Dorset in South eastern England. Visitors will find it near the Isle of Purbeck. Originally the town served as a small fishing village and seaport. It thrived during the Victorian era and today remains a popular tourist destination. Summer is the most popular time of year for Swanage, when many visitors make their way to the area to enjoy the sandy beaches as well as many other attractions in the immediate area. Due to its popularity as a tourist hotspot, visitors will find that Swanage has many accommodations as well as dining and entertainment venues to offer.

The coastal town of Swanage is a great place to spend your summer holiday. In medieval times the coast was used for a different kind of business, namely fishing. In the olden days when travellers used to discover new lands this coast was converted into a splendid port. Today it is one of the finest tourist resorts that attracts thousands of visitors who enjoy the amazing sandy beaches that always welcome new and old visitors. The other great factor behind the enormous popularity of the town is that it has a World Heritage Site as its neighbour which is known as the Jurassic Coast.

The local people celebrate an annual festival in the peak summer season and this festival lasts for a week. All the ingredients of successful festivals are included to bring the most dazzling nights of the town. Music festivals of different genres carry along throughout the year that attracts passionate musicians.

The pubs are famous for their authentic English culture; take for an instance The Square and Compass, which truly reflects the culture. You can still appreciate the centuries old ambiance in this amazing pub. This pub can equally be enjoyed if you are with your family as it specially focuses in maintaining the decency that is becoming rare with the passage of time. Most of the visitors like to enjoy the ambiance as it really is an experience that you cannot find everywhere.
