There are numerous shopping, dining and entertainment venues in the immediate area as well as tourist attractions. Without a doubt, Land Rover Experience is one of the most well known. It includes a factory tour as well as a hands-on driving course. There is also an ice rink, a fairly large cinema and several parks that are excellent for walking. Ample shopping venues ensure that visitors will have a change to buy plenty of mementos of their trip to Solihull.
Solihull is a large town located in the West Midlands, around nine miles from Birmingham. It has been in existence since at least medieval times and the architecture in the town reflects its roots.
The main shopping centre in the town is Touchwood, which attracts over seventeen million shoppers each year and holds over eighty stores as well as a cinema complex.
In September each year, the town is home to a week long festival which is used to raise funds for charity. It is organised by the local Rotary Clubs and is probably the only festival in the UK that is wholly organised by volunteers. The event includes live music concerts as well as plays, sports and street entertainment.
Solihull has lots of open spaces and parks for you to relax in and the two central parks (Malvern and Brueton) cover an area of around 130 acres. Malvern Park is within easy reach of the town centre and features some spectacular flower arrangements during the year. Brueton Park is linked to it and has more of an emphasis on wildlife as well as a number of mature trees. Slightly further out of town is Olton Reservoir which was built to supply water to the Grand Union Canal although nowadays it is home to a sailing club.
