Luton is a bustling town located on the northern outskirts of London and has always enjoyed a reputation as an industrious, prosperous town, and one that punches above its weight in terms of the variety and range of different activities on offer. For nature lovers who want to take a leisurely stroll and admire the beautiful scenery, then look no further than the Chiltern Hills which received the prestigious honour of "Place of Outstanding Beauty" in 1965.At the peaks of the Hills, the observer can see the town itself, as well as the English Channel and the various rivers that surround the town.
Luton was always a town firmly focused on and dedicated to industry, and so the Luton Museum and Art Gallery pays homage to the various industries and commodities for which Luton became most famously associated with, in particular lace making and millinery. One of the highlights of the Luton Museum and Art Gallery is their extensive and comprehensive collection of hats, with the collection housing no less than 600 different types of hats in total as well as a extensive collection of historical jewellery including Roman, Saxon and more modern items.
Given the strong influence the Romans had on the development and subsequent commercialisation of the town, there is also a number of exhibitions contained within the Luton Museum and Art Gallery which are specifically dedicated to the Roman era.
Kids will love a trip to the zoo, so make sure you plan a day out at Whipsnade Zoo just for the kids!!
