Jedburgh is located in Scottish Borders and is actually only ten miles from the English border. The town is well known for being home to the ruins off Jedburgh Abbey, which was the focus of a large archaeological dig in the 1980s. Today the site is maintained by Historic Scotland and is open to the public for an admission fee. Items discovered in the excavation are on display. In addition, visitors may visit Castle Jail, which was constructed in the early 29th century near the medieval castle. There are ample restaurants and accommodation options located in the immediate area.

Jedburgh is a Scottish town located on the Scottish Borders. The town was once a royal burgh within the area that was once known as Roxburgh. Jedburgh is located on the banks of Jed Water. The town is situated only about ten miles from the English border. The town is dominated but the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. The other notable buildings within the town include Jedburgh Castle Jail, which is now used as a museum and also the house of Mary Queens of Scots.

The town of Jedburgh has a population of about four thousand and ninety that is a major decline since the ends of the nineteenth century when the population was about eight thousand five hundred and ninety.

The ruined abbey within the town was a major site for an archaeological dig during 1984. The site of the abbey was maintained by Historic Scotland and it is open to the public for a small donation. There were a lot of important finds that were discovered by the excavation team and these are now on display within the visitor centre.

Jedburgh has a good educational network that consists of two primary schools known as Howdenburn and Parkside. Pupils from both the primary schools attend Jedburgh Grammar School. Pupils also attend the grammar school from the nearby primary schools of Ancrum and Denholm. The grammar school is distinctive as it is the only one in the United Kingdom that has a public road running through it.
