Falkirk, is situated in central Scotland, northwest of Edinburgh. The town saw significant growth during the Industrial Revolution and is now a fairly large sized town. The town of Falkirk is located at the point where the Union Canal and the Forth and Clyde Canal meet. The location of the town proved to be very beneficial to the economy of Falkirk as it allows for excellent transportation links. The town was a bust location for heavy industry during the time of the Industrial Revolution. During the eighteenth and the nineteenth century the town of Falkirk was at the heart of the large steel and iron industries and this was underpinned by what was known as the Caron Company. Over the last fifty years the heavy industry within the town has declined and the economy of the town is now orientated around the services industries.
