Duns, located in the Scottish Borders area, is situated on the coast. There are many sights of interest in the local area, including a large shopping facility as well as a variety of other shops. The Scottish town of Duns is located within the Scottish Borders. James the sixth created the town of Duns as a Burgh of Barony during 1490. The town of Duns is a former county town that was part of Berwickshire.

The town of Duns has the biggest shopping facilities within a radius of about fifteen miles. The town is home to the sheriff court of Berwickshire and it is also home to the main offices for the council of the Scottish Borders.

The town of Duns and the surrounding area has seen major housing developments since the early part of the 1990's and some of the developments were controversial. There was a development close to the golf club located on the roads to Longformacus that is just outside the town of Duns. The town of Duns was built on a green field site. There is a new modern high school being built across the road from Berwickshire High School. Berwickshire High School was erected during the middle part of the 1950's.

The high school of Berwickshire is a comprehensive school that has six different years and this school is located to the west of the town.

The town of Duns is home to number of notable people that includes the famous formula w racing driver that is known as Jim Clark and there is now a small museum within the town in memory of him. The medical doctor and homeopath that was known as Dr Samuel Cockburn lived within the area. The town of Duns has been twinned with the Poland area of Zagan.
