Dartford is located in Kent some 25 kilometers southeast of central London. The town centre is actually located in a valley. During medieval times the town grew up as a market town. The area where the Bluewater Shopping Centre is located was once the location for the Swanscombe Cement Works. Blue Circle closed the Cement Works in 1990.
