The Croydon Clock tower contains the Museum of Croydon which features a number of exhibitions and historical memorabilia all of which help to more readily charter the evolution of the city of Croydon. Pottery fans and those who appreciate Chinese culture will be delighted and surprised in equal measure with the Riseco Gallery which boasts a comprehensive collection of authentic Chinese ceramic ware and pottery.
One of the most influential black playwrights and poets who lived in England, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor spent a great deal of his lifetime within the walls of Croydon, and it was the sights around the town that often served as an inspiration for him as he penned his works. In commemoration of him, the Museum of Croydon has an exhibition solely dedicated to him.
