It was once situated directly between the Danes and the Anglo-Saxons and consequently was the hub of cultural and historical interest. Today, Bedford is a popular shopping center and is home to numerous bars and pubs. Please note that Whipsnade Zoo manages to strike that balance between quality and quantity, as it is home to around 6500 different animals with some of them given full reign to wander around the grounds of the park and the number of animals found here is only matched by the number of animals which also happen to be endangered as well. Elephants, peacocks, penguins and lemurs are all inhabitants of this remarkable zoo.
Children will be delighted by the various shows and performances which are hosted throughout the park, with the animals themselves being the star performers.
Whether you are a fan of nature, or simply want to take a stroll through some gorgeous scenery, then you may want to pay a visit to the highly unusual and unique Whipsnade Tree Cathedral. The brainchild of a veteran of the first world war, Whipsnade Tree Cathedral is a nine acre plot of land where the trees have been planted in a very precise fashion so as to resemble a physical cathedral. Since 1953 the site has been used to host a number of different religious ceremonies and services from all different denominations.
