Basildon was actually created by consolidating four small villages; Basildon, Vange, Laindon and Pitsea. The 60th anniversary of the town's founding will be celebrated in 2009. Visitors will find there are numerous shops and eating establishments in the area to enjoy. In addition, there is a range of accommodation options in Basildon as well as in the local area.
