Ballater is situated in Aberdeenshire on the River Dee in Scotland. Approximately 14 kilometers from Ballater is Balmoral Castle, the holiday home of the Royal Family. The Walking festival that is held in Ballater is an annual event that is usually held in May. This walking festival attracts a vast number of hill walkers that all have different levels of capability. The participants within the walking festival are guided through the various valleys and hills that are located east of the Cairngorms.
