Edinburgh Town Guide |
This house, situated on the Lawnmarket part of the Royal Mile, dates back to the 1620s. However it takes its name from the 18th century Edinburgh socialite Lady Stair who once lived here. |
Today the house is a Writer's Museum dedicated to Scottish literature, particularly the figures of Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns and Robert Louis Stevenson. It contains all manner of personal memorabilia relating to these three including locks of hair. The museum is open daily but times vary according to the time of year. Entry is free. |
