Edinburgh Town Guide |
Edinburgh has a thriving gay and lesbian community of around 15,000, which is often more "open" than the gay communities in many other British cities.
|
If you want to check out the gay scene, the main part of Edinburgh to head for is the area around Broughton Street in the New Town, which is affectionately known as the Pink Triangle. As well as the more usual gay clubs and bars this part of Edinburgh is also a good source of information and support, and there are several places where you can get involved in political activities. For more information and listings on Gay Edinburgh, there are several good publications including Scotsgay and Gay Scotland. The main event of the gay calendar, Gay Pride Scotland, is held each June, either in Edinburgh or in Glasgow (alternate years). |
