Edinburgh Town Guide, The Gallery, 1K The gallery was originally housed in Inverleith House in the Royal Botanical Gardens. However it was moved in 1984 to its present position in Belford Road where it is housed in a former school.

The collection is regularly changed so it is not guaranteed what paintings will be on display when you visit, but highlights of the gallery's collection includes works by Matisse, Picasso, Leger and Hockney.

And of course there is a strong collection of works by Scottish artists such as Hunter, Cadell and Bellany. Meanwhile the grounds are filled with numerous sculptures, including some by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.

The gallery is open daily from 10am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and from 12 noon to 5pm on Sundays. There is a café available for refreshments.
