If you are travelling to Edinburgh with a family, you should have no problem keeping the children entertained. There is plenty for families to do, and many restaurants and hotels are now geared towards families, although do check in advance to avoid disappointment. |

When it comes to deciding what to do, the Castle is always a good place to start, and of course Edinburgh Zoo is a must - but there are plenty of other attractions that will appeal to kids. How about the Brass Rubbing Centre on the Royal Mile, the Camera Obscura, or the Edinburgh Experience which is housed in the old City Observatory? There are also plenty of excellent museums that cater for children with high-tech and interactive exhibitions. In particular there is the Museum of Childhood will appeal to young and old alike. |

But perhaps the best time to travel to Edinburgh with a family is May, when a Children's Festival is held in Stockbridge. Events include magic shows, puppet shows and book readings and there is also plenty of activities for kids to get involved in. |
