Welsh Industrial and Maritime Museum |
South Wales, and Cardiff in particular, has a long industrial and maritime tradition - in fact at one point Cardiff was one of the busiest export docks in the world. This superb museum records this aspect of Wales' past in excellent detail, covering areas as diverse as the coal mining industry, the railway industry, Wales' maritime tradition and the everyday lives of the workers. Well laid out, the museum is very informative, and with lots of working and interactive exhibits it is especially appealing for children. The Welsh Industrial and Maritime Museum is located on Bute Crescent, in the recently re-developed Cardiff Bay part of Cardiff. For the fit it is within walking distance of the town centre, but you may prefer to take a bus. The museum is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesdays to Sundays. Admission costs around £2 for adults. |
