Bristol Town Guide, John Wesley's Chapel, 2K

John Wesley's Chapel can be found off Horse Fair, just behind the Broadmead shopping centre, to the north-east of the city centre.

This was the world's first Methodist Chapel, and is where John Wesley himself preached from the pulpit in the 1730s.

Upstairs from the Chapel are the rooms where John and Charles Wesley lived, looking unchanged from when they lived here. Note the hidden window that John Wesley used to check up on his trainee preachers!

The John Wesley Chapel is open daily except on Sundays, from 10am to 4pm. It also closes on Wednesdays during the winter months. Admission is free, but guided tours cost around £2 for adults.
