Southsea, located in Hampshire, is a seaside resort that is popular with tourists. Over the years, the town of Southsea has merged with Portsmouth, making it one large area. The city centre of Portsmouth is now only about one mile from the centre of Southsea. Visitors will find the local area is thriving in terms of commerce. There are two national department stores as well as a variety of other chain stores. There are also numerous restaurants and eateries located in the immediate area. Visitors will also find there are numerous accommodation options located in Southsea.

The English town of Southsea is situated close to Portsmouth. The town of Southsea is a seaside resort located at the southern end of the Portsea Island within Hampshire County. The build up of the areas such as Southsea and Portsmouth has all merged and the centre of Southsea is within a mile of the city centre of Portsmouth.

Despite the fact that Southsea is only a small town it actually has a thriving commercial area that includes a wide range of well-known chain stores as well as two national department stores. The town also has a vast number of small independent traders that includes food retailers, furniture stores and charity shops. The town of Southsea also hosts a good social scene, which consists of a large number of bars and places to eat and these all cater for a wide range of tastes and budgets.

A lot of the town of Southsea was actually designed by the architect that is known as Thomas Ellis Owen. However some of his buildings were destroyed during the Second World War and some of the buildings have been modernised to suit modern tastes.

The town of Southsea offers a vast range of tourist attractions, which include a beach that is mainly flint gravel however it has sand during low tide. There are also two piers within the town of Southsea, which are known as the Clarence Pier and also the South Parade Pier. Both of the piers are home to amusement arcades. The south pier is also home to a ballroom and a bar area. The Clarence pier is located beside the permanent funfair in the town.
