Rothbury, located in Northumberland, is situated on the River Coquet. The town is also located near the Simonside Hills as well as the Northumberland National Park, making it an ideal destination for tourists. The area is popular in particular with walkers due to the hills in the area. The town of Rothbury is also well known for Cragside, which is a Victorian mansion located in the vicinity. The English town of Rothbury is located within the English area of Northumberland. The town of Rothbury is located on the banks of the River Coquet close to the Simonside Hills and also the national park of Northumberland. Due to its location the town of Rothbury is very popular with walkers. The town is also well known for the Victorian mansion that is close to it and this mansion is known as Cragside.

The town of Rothbury was first mentioned around 1100AD however at this time it was actually known as Routhebiria. The Anglican cross that is located within the church in the town is the only remains of the pre-conquest times.

The parish church tat is still used nowadays dates back to 1850 and although it has largely been replaced in parts there are still some things that date back to the Saxon times. The church features a font that has a steam or pedestal that dates back to before the Saxon times.

The town of Rothbury was once the terminus of the main branch line that runs from the Scots Gap. The North British Railway line runs from Reedsmouth to Morpeth. The railway line that runs through Rothbury was closed to trains carrying passengers on the 15th September 1952 and nowadays it is completely closed. The town of Rothbury is now served by the bus service and the busses operate via Longframlington and Longhorsley. The closest city to the town of Rothbury is Newcastle.

Prior to 1965 there was a racecourse within the town of Rothbury and this racecourse staged one meeting per year and it was held in April.
