With it's roots in 17th century cock fighting Ye Olde Fighting Cocks is one of the oldest buildings in the lovely village of Arnside set on the banks of the Kent estuary. Try a pint of hand pulled bitter or relax with a glass of wine from some of our individually chosen bottles. Entertainment is in the form of live music on Saturday and some Friday evenings, with traditional bar games such as pool and darts available. Part of the restaurant is built over the site of the old limestone cock pit. We offer home cooked and freshly prepared food with daily specials. An open fire adds extra cheer on a chilly day. The hotel offers beautifully refurbished en-suite rooms equipped with televisions, hairdryers, trouser press, radio alarms and a welcome tray for guests to refresh themselves. Fantastic views of the Kent estuary and the Lakeland mountains can be seen from the bedrooms. |
Outside a terraced garden allows you to watch the bore race up the river at high tide, do a spot of bird watching or simply while away your day. Facilities include a car park and barn where cycles can be locked away. For those without their own transport there is the nearby railway station with links to the rest of the Lake District. Parties and meetings are catered for in our Crown Room, with it's own private bar and easy access to the car park. Menus can be individually tailored to suit the occasion or group. Arnside is a lovely place to walking cycling, painting or just some quiet rest and relaxation. The RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss is nearby with many historical places of interest such as Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle a short journey by car. Kendal and Lancaster offer a lovely choice of shops for those in need of a little retail therapy or there is the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District to absorb. |
