The head of the valley is located below Mam Tor at Castleton and then from here the Peakshole Water flows to the village of Hope. When the river flows into the village of Hope it reaches the River Noe that flows in from Edale.
The area of Hope Valley is a very popular tourist location and the local railway line being the main line between Sheffield and Manchester encourages this.
There is a strong education network within the town, which is encouraged by the Hope Valley College, and this is the only secondary school within Hope valley.
