Dufftown, located in Moray, was originally named Mortlach during the Middle Ages. The name of the town was changed to Dufftown in the 19th Century when the Earl of Fife constructed the actual town. The town is well known today for hosting a highland games event every summer; an event which attracts numerous tourists. The most notable building in the area is Balvenie Castle, which was partially constructed from stones taken from the ruins of Auchindoun Castle.
