The Victoria Hotel was built in 1867 as a railway hotel, to a design deliberately imitating the Grosvenor Hotel in London. It remains the pride of Bradford, with an imposing faade, which overlooks an attractive square adjacent to the Bradford Interchange Railway Station and the County Courts. In fitting with its surrounding architecture the hotel bears traditional stylish and elegant Victorian characteristics and was once the haunt of wealthy wool merchants, stars of the stage, as well as politicians, authors and impresarios. The Victoria Hotel has an almost unique position being the only hotel situated in the cultural city centre of Bradford.
