The seaside resort of Ventnor is located on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. This resort area was established during the Victorian era. Ventnor is a civil parish on the Isle of Wight that is located just off the southern coast of England. Ventnor is located just beneath the area that is known as St Boniface Down and this area is the highest point on the island and stands at a height of seven hundred and eighty seven feet above seaside. The resort is built on the slopes and cliffs that lead down to the sea and these are fairly steep.
The highest part of the resort is often referred to as Upper Ventnor however it is actually officially known as Lowtherville. The lower part of the resort is where a lot of the amenities are situated and this lower area is officially known as Ventnor. The area that is known as Ventnor often also includes the surrounding areas of St Lawrence and also the village of Bonchurch.
The surrounding cliffs that are located on the south coast of the Island shelter the resort of Ventnor and this enables the area to have what is commonly referred to as a microclimate and this means that this area has more sunny days than any other part of the Untied Kingdom.
