Ventnor, located on the Isle of Wright, is well known as a seaside resort. It became firmly established during the Victorian era and continues to be popular as a tourist destination. Ventnor is located just beneath the area that is known as St Boniface Down and this area is the highest point on the island and stands at a height of seven hundred and eighty seven feet above seaside. The resort is built on the slopes and cliffs that lead down to the sea and these are fairly steep.

The highest part of the resort is often referred to as Upper Ventnor however it is actually officially known as Lowtherville. The lower part of the resort is where a lot of the amenities are situated and this lower area is officially known as Ventnor. The area that is known as Ventnor often also includes the surrounding areas of St Lawrence and also the village of Bonchurch.

The surrounding cliffs that are located on the south coast of the Island shelter the resort of Ventnor and this enables the area to have what is commonly referred to as a microclimate and this means that this area has more sunny days than any other part of the Untied Kingdom. There is two churches within the area which are known as the Holy Trinity church and also the St Catherine's Church. There is a strong educational network within the area of Ventnor and this is made up of three primary schools, one middle school and also a special needs school.
