
Ulverston is an English market town that is located within the district of Cumbria. The town was historically part of Lancashire and the town is located within the Furness area. The town is located close to the Lake District and the town is located close to Morecambe Bay on the north.
The most visible landmark within the town of Ulverston is Hoad Monument. The monument is a structure that is made out of concrete and it was built in 1850. The monument was built in order to commemorate a local resident and statesman who was called Sir John Barrow. The monument is located in a scenic area that over looks Morecambe Bay and some parts of the Lake District.
The Ulverston Canal is the deepest, shortest and widest canal within the United Kingdom. The Ulverston Canal can no longer be navigated. The canal was once a major factor in the components of the economy of the town.
The town has a vast range of pubs and shops and some of these are located on the main street of the town that is called Market Street. At the top of Market Street there is a war memorial and this memorial is in memory of local soldiers that were killed during world war one.
Ulverston is a fairly big civil parish that covers a long strip of land. The town is bound in the east by the Leven estuary, Yewdale Beck and Coniston Water. The town is bound in the west by the town of Kirby in Furness. The town is bound in the south by fairly low land however it then rises quickly and in the north the town is bound by a range of villages and homesteads.
