Nottingham Town Guide, Nottingham Lace, 5K
Nottingham Town Guide, 11K Nottingham was once famous the world over for its lace, and during the industrialisation of the 18th and 19th centuries it became one of the biggest lace producing cities in the world.

But by the end of the 19th century the lace-making industry went into sharp decline, and so many of Nottingham's factories closed down.

Today there are still a few places producing lace in Nottingham, and there are several places in the town where you can see examples of the product.

For example, there is a Lace Centre on Castle Road, opposite the Castle. And on High Pavement, to the south-east of the city centre, there is Nottingham's Lace Hall.

In addition the Museum of Costume and Textiles tells the story of Nottingham's lace-making industry.
